Joy Cone Company was created by Albert George, a Lebanese immigrant, in 1918 with the help of his family members. Even though there has been a name change and almost a century has passed, Joy Cone remains a family-owned and operated business. They now ship their cones across the world and bake over 1.5 billion cones a year. Their focus on making their products – ice cream cones – perfect is what makes Joy Cone so successful. Jobs and their Qualifications
Jobs at Joy Cone Company include production positions, office positions, and technical positions. You can also find internships, casual, and temporary work if you are a current high school or college student.
For example, you could be hired as a packer. As a packer for Joy Cone, you would pack the ice cream cones in the facility. To be a packer, you must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, be able to stand from five to eight hours a day, and be able to withstand heat up to 85 degrees in the summertime. You can work either as a full-time, part-time, casual (best for students and people who have other part-time jobs), or temporary (work from May through August) employee. Packers are required to work rotating shifts throughout the week (including weekends), so be sure you are applying for the appropriate type of work. For example, high school students can only work as casual or temporary.
Additionally, you could be hired as an accountant. Your responsibility would be to provide financial information to management and preparing reports. An accounting degree is required for this position, and having certification as a Certified Public Accountant is preferred. Two years of relevant accounting experience is also required.
Pay and Benefits
Joy Cone is not a minimum wage company – employee salaries are always higher than minimum wage. For example, the salary for packers is about $14 an hour.
